Visiting the site
When you visit this site, your browser transmits technically necessary data to the hosting provider's server, which is stored in server log files: the file requested, the date and time, the volume of data transferred, a message about successful retrieval, browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL and IP address. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in the technically faultless and secure operation of the site. The data are deleted after a short period.
Cookies and local storage
This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. A consent banner is therefore not required.
Buying and downloading the book
On the page The book the PDF is available for purchase. Payment is handled by PayPal. The PayPal library is loaded only once you actively start the purchase – until then no connection to PayPal takes place. If you merely read the book page, no data leave this server.
If you do start the purchase, data are transmitted to PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22–24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg – including your IP address and details of the payment. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract). PayPal's privacy statement is available at paypal.com.
After successful payment the server generates a random string that releases the download. For this purpose the PayPal transaction number, the time, the number of downloads, the e-mail address held by PayPal and the time of your consent to immediate delivery are stored. We have to record that consent because the expiry of the right of withdrawal depends on it (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR, § 356(5) of the German Civil Code).
We send the legally required confirmation of the contract (§ 312f of the German Civil Code) to your e-mail address, together with the download links and your receipt. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR. The address is not used for advertising and is not passed on.
These records are deleted after 90 days unless retention is required for tax purposes.
